Bat Regulation Changes

Many youth baseball organizations are adopting the USA Baseball Bat Standard which became effective as of January 1st, 2018. We will accept the standard SPWAA currently meets and the USA Baseball Bat Standard as well.

Player Play-up or Play-Down Requests

Requests that a player play outside of the designated age range (age of player as of April 30th for that calendar year) need to be submitted to the SPWAA Registrar  These requests will be evaluated by the evaluation panel and recommendation will be made to the Baseball AD. The final decision will be made by the Baseball AD. No request is guaranteed to be honored, and a player must demonstrate a level of play that is far and above or severely below the acceptable range of play for said division. No communication is required with the Baseball AD prior to evaluations.

Player Pitch Only - Head Coach and Assistant Coach Players

At the Player Pitch level, only the Head Coach and the Assistant Coach will be guaranteed to retain his or her son or daughter prior to the draft. Coaches without a defined guardianship relationship to a player will be discussed at the upcoming meetings. It is important to note that teams will be ranked by player evaluations that are assigned based on relationship as it relates to draft order.

SPWAA Infectious Disease Control Policy

Silverdale Pee Wee Association will take proactive steps to protect Ross Field and its occupants in the event of an infectious disease outbreak. It is the goal of Silverdale Pee Wee Association during any such time period to strive to operate effectively and ensure that services are continuously provided and that participants are safe.

Silverdale Pee Wee Association is committed to providing authoritative information about the nature and spread of infectious diseases, including symptoms and signs to watch for, as well as required steps to be taken in the event of an illness or outbreak.

As of 02/26/2021

COVID19 Sporting Activities Guidance for the State of Washington

Phase 2:

- Facial coverings required for all coaches, volunteers and athletes at all times.

-Spectators are required by proclamation 20-03.1 from the Secretary of Health: …people wear cloth face coverings where they are in public settings and cannot always reliably maintain six feet of distance from others …

- Outdoor training, practices and competitions allowed outdoors for low, moderate, and high risk sports. Maximum 200 people allowed at competitions, including spectators.

- For outdoor competitions; For facilities or complexes with more than one field or area of play a maximum of 75 people allowed per field or area of play, including spectators. All spectators of different households are to remain physically distant, 6 feet or more, as much as possible.

- Indoor team training, practices, and competitions allowed for low and moderate risk sports. Indoor team practices, training and intra-team competitions allowed for high risk sports. Scrimmage against other teams or training or practices with other teams is not allowed for high risk sports. For all indoor sports the occupancy of the facility may not exceed 25 percent of the fire code occupancy rating, or 200 people max, whichever is less.

Preventing the Spread of Infection

Silverdale Pee Wee Association will ensure a clean space, including the regular cleaning of objects and areas that are frequently used, such as (but not limited to) bathrooms, table surfaces, meeting rooms, door handles and railings. Coaches and leadership personnel will be designated to monitor and coordinate events around an infectious disease outbreak, as well as to create rules of play, and observance of play, that could be implemented to promote safety through infection control. We ask all participants and spectators to cooperate in taking steps to reduce the transmission of infectious disease in the common areas. The best strategy remains the most obvious—frequent hand washing with warm, soapy water; covering your mouth whenever you sneeze or cough; and discarding used tissues in wastebaskets. We will also make available alcohol-based hand sanitizers in common areas.

Contact Silverdale Pee Wee Association Board for more information.

Staying Home When Ill

During an infectious disease outbreak, it is critical that participants and spectators remain at home while they are ill and/or experiencing the following symptoms: fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Currently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people with an infectious illness such as the flu remain at home until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever (100 degrees F or 37.8 degrees C) and symptom free without the use of fever-reducing medications. Those who report ill will be sent home in accordance with these health guidelines.

Requests for Medical Information and/or Documentation

If you are out sick or show symptoms of being ill, it may become necessary to request information from you and/or your health care provider. In general, we would request medical information to confirm that it is appropriate for you to return to play. As always, we expect and appreciate your cooperation if and when medical information is sought.

Confidentiality of Medical Information

Our policy is to treat any medical information as a confidential medical record. In furtherance of this policy, any disclosure of medical information is in limited circumstances with supervisors, managers, first aid and safety personnel, and government officials as required by law.

Social Distancing Guidelines for Return to Play

In the event of an infectious disease outbreak, Silverdale Pee Wee Association may implement these social distancing guidelines to minimize the spread of the disease. Participants and spectators are requested to:

1. Avoid meeting people face-to-face. People are encouraged to use the telephone, online conferencing, e-mail or instant messaging to conduct business as much as possible, even when participants are in the same building.

2. If a face-to-face meeting is unavoidable, minimize the meeting time, choose a large meeting room and sit at least 6 feet from each other; avoid person-to-person contact such as shaking hands.

3. Avoid any unnecessary travel and cancel or postpone nonessential meetings, gatherings, workshops and training sessions.

4. Do not congregate in rooms, pantries, or other areas where people socialize.

5. Eat away from others (avoid congregating to eat together).

6. Encourage people to request information via phone and e-mail in order to minimize person to-person contact. Have the materials and information ready for fast pick-up or delivery.
